Technical Training – Bulk-Retail Petroleum

Course Objectives/Outline:

The objective of this course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge to inspect and ensure that the Weights and Measures legislative requirements are met.

Students will be quizzed on a daily basis to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the material covered. Hands-on demonstrations will also be used to illustrate test procedures. A theoretical evaluation will be administered on the final day. The participant may elect to complete, in accordance with the needs of their organisation, either the integral exam or a version tailored to volumetric dispensers and refuellers. Candidates must signify their intention to submit to the volumetric dispensers and refuellers exam at the start of training. Notwithstanding the final exam version administered, the full extent of the Bulk-Retail Petroleum training must be undertaken. Students who have successfully completed the theoretical portion of the training will be required to pass a practical evaluation designed to assess their ability to inspect devices. A minimum pass mark of 70 percent is required on the theoretical evaluation. To be successful on the practical evaluation, a minimum pass mark of 70 percent is required in each individual section of the evaluation.

In addition, candidates will be evaluated on their ability to complete inspection certificates. This information will not be formally taught during the theory course. Although it will be assessed at the same time as the technical knowledge, a separate mark will be awarded. A mark of at least 70% will be required in order to pass the inspection certificate component. Information about the Weights and Measures Inspection Certificate Completion Manual. Each organization is responsible for ensuring that its candidates receive advance training on completing inspection certificates.
